My journey into real estate wasn’t exactly planned—it was a series of pivots, risks, and a lot of hustle.
In 2003, I found myself at a pivotal crossroads. I had just quit my job at JP Morgan—more on that soon—and was uncertain of my next steps. Initially, I considered earning a psychology degree, but my heart kept pulling me back to my true passion: business and connecting with people.
My journey in real estate began at 22 when I purchased my first house and started renting it out by 25. Raised in New York, I pursued my education fervently, obtaining a bachelor's degree in business management and finance, followed by an MBA. My career kicked off on Wall Street, where I managed $4.9 billion in credit assets, a role that was both exhilarating and high-pressure.
I left Wall Street just before 9/11 and transitioned to JPMorgan as the assistant vice president of retail margin operations. During my time there, I was involved in significant enhancements and a major acquisition, all while working evenings to build my real estate career. I was determined to see if I could transition from a comfortable salary and bonuses to a commission-only lifestyle, navigating financial challenges with very little money.
Shortly after leaving JP Morgan, I faced a health scare when I developed a blood clot in my leg, which slowed my usual hustle. As I began to build my real estate career, I encountered financial hurdles, including significant debt from both my husband and me, compounded by a mortgage I was solely responsible for. A bad real estate investment, where a builder failed to return a large escrow deposit for years, added to my financial strain and ultimately led to my bankruptcy.
Additionally, money not spent wisely on superficial marketing strategies, like featuring my picture on a grocery cart, contributed to my challenges. It wasn’t until I realized that my work was rooted in building genuine relationships that I began to turn things around. Joining the Chamber of Commerce and BNI helped me cultivate valuable business-to-business referral partnerships.
Determined to succeed, I dove into the hustle. My attorney, recognizing my resilience, referred financially challenged clients to me, understanding that I could relate to their stress and guide them properly. "You're absolutely amazing. I can't imagine handling this stress for this long." She became an unexpected ally, and this support became the foundation for my business.
By 2012, I was honored as Delaware State REALTOR® of the Year and eventually inducted into the New Castle County Board of REALTORS® Hall of Fame. My success stems from a simple principle: doing right by people.
Alongside my professional journey, I became a grandmother (or "Gigi") while transitioning into motherhood, yearning to embrace that role as my biological clock ticked away. My son Ray is my world; he is talented in all that he does and, like me, is a lover of people with a passion for life who isn't afraid of challenges. I also have three stepchildren, six grandchildren, a dog named Cooper who brings joy to our family and my parents who are my guiding light.
As my husband and I navigate the complexities of life, we are on the cusp of significant changes, including the prospect of separation. Despite our 18-year age gap, we remain united in our commitment to family and friendship, focusing on the love we share for our son and the memories we’ve built together.
Reflecting on my experiences—change, challenges, triumphs, sorrow, passion, and happiness—I’ve learned that each element is a vital part of life. I am here to serve as your confidant and guide in real estate, helping you navigate through every twist and turn.
What distinguishes me as an agent is my unwavering commitment to integrity. I prioritize doing the right thing by people. My business thrives on referrals and strong business-to-business relationships rather than traditional advertisements. With a background in risk management and finance, I excel at breaking down complex problems, offering tailored, strategic advice that encourages calculated risks while protecting my clients from harm.
I’m known for guiding clients smoothly through transactions, helping them navigate challenges and avoid pitfalls. My extensive network—including trusted contractors who wait for payment until closing—facilitates smoother processes for my clients. Additionally, I’ve fostered strong relationships with fellow agents in the industry; they appreciate my firm yet fair negotiation style and my focus on resolving issues that truly matter.
I ensure no one gets bogged down in minor details, keeping everyone focused on what’s essential. Together, we can move forward, setting you up for success in your real estate journey.
Sincerely,
